Local Information

Northern Virginia, just across the Potomac River from the nation's capital, is a region of contrasts: Urban skylines stand close to centuries-old, water-powered gristmills. Scenic byways traversing lush countryside parallel modern highways. Small galleries and boutiques complement upscale shopping malls and discount outlets. Travelers experience the early heritage of the United States at George Washington's Mount Vernon and watch the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknowns at Arlington National Cemetery, where an eternal flame burns at the grave of John F. Kennedy. The region includes Prince William and Historic Manassas where you may reflect on some of the Civil War's most critical conflicts at the Manassas National Battlefield and The Manassas Museum
